A new trailer for Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice was released yesterday (July 11) at San Diego’s Comic Con, the world-renown comic book festival. It’s the first time superhero fans are getting a glimpse of the rebooted DC Comics stars sharing the big screen (for some reason, director Zack Snyder considers his 2013 flick Man of Steel with Henry Cavill to be the first installment in DC Comics’s series of “shared universe” films, even though it only featured Superman).

For close followers of the new mega-series, the trailer also offers more insight into why Superman may have started a clash with the Dark Knight, to be played by Ben Affleck.

Also making an appearance is Wonder Woman, played by Gal Gadot, and Lex Luthor, depicted by Jesse Eisenberg.

During the Comic Con panel, Snyder explains how, in this new universe, Metropolis and Gotham City are sister cities, making it easier for Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent’s worlds to collide. “It’s like Oakland and San Francisco, kind of.”
