An American social media influencer has created an AI app that, for $1 a minute, can be your virtual girlfriend.
Twenty-three-year-old Caryn Marjorie has already amassed more than two million followers on Snapchat, Instagram, and YouTube, leveraging the power of the latest, more improved GPT-4 application program interface (API) to create an AI-powered doppelganger of herself.
CarynAI, the voice-based chatbot developed by tech developer Forever Voices, engages millions of Marjorie’s mostly male followers in pillow talk for a fee. Forever Voices also created the Steve Jobs, Taylor Swift, and Donald Trump chatbots.
She predicts that even if only 20,000 members from her social media following became paying and regular CarynAI subscribers once the project is fully operational, she could generate up to $5 million monthly.
A beta testing of the chatbot in early May as a private, invite-only test on a Telegram group of Marjorie’s superfans saw CarynAI generate $71,610 in revenue from her online “boyfriends.”
Within the first week of its launch in May, CarynAI’s beta version earned Marjorie $100,000.
Marjorie, who barely has time to respond to the usual barrage of responses she gets on her various social pages, believes her AI clone will be able to handle her followers’ feedback for a small amount of money.
“These fans of mine, have a really, really strong connection with me,” Marjorie told the Washington Post. “Because of that they actually end up messaging me every single day. I started to realize about a year ago that it’s just not humanly possible for me to reach out to all of these messages, there’s just too many and I actually feel kind of bad that I can’t give that individual, one-on-one sort of relationship to every single person. I wish I could but I just simply can’t.”
It took Forever Voices 2,000 hours to analyze what the real Marjorie posted on her social channels, and ultimately create the CarynAI chatbot. Conversations with CarynAI are private and confidential sealed with end-to-end encryption.
Lately, though, the chatbot’s sexual conversations have seemed to go overboard, prompting Marjorie to correct course.
“CarynAI is adaptive and works to meet a user’s needs,” she told the New York Post. “We are restructuring what it can and can’t do, as one of the first things my fans and early users did was to push it past its limits.”
