Pete Gelling is Quartz's geopolitics editor. He previously served as an editor at WGBH's The World, and before that at GlobalPost, where he coordinated coverage of the Middle East, North Africa, Pakistan and Afghanistan. He also wrote for The New York Times from Jakarta, where he lived for six years at the turn of the century — a time that feels as long ago as it sounds. When he's not editing or writing, Pete is usually washing dishes for Kaki Lima, the wildly popular Indonesian pop up restaurant run by his wife.
