People can get stuck in routines that make responding and learning hard. Jerrold McGrath disorganizes groups of people so that they can reorganize to do new things. Often this results in better workplaces and more effective organizations. Sometimes it doesn’t. Experiments allow for evidence to be created and transitions to be visible to more people, while recognizing that human systems are messy and complex. Jerrold is the director of programs for Launchpad, a 30,000 sq ft art and design hub in Toronto, Canada, and the founder of Intervene Design, a small firm that designs, delivers, and evaluates organizational experiments. Jerrold has an 8-year-old daughter that is considerably better-known than he is.
