Whitney Phillips is an assistant professor of literary studies and writing at Mercer University. MIT Press published her book "This is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things: Mapping the Relationship between Online Trolling and Mainstream Culture" in 2015, and she is currently co-authoring a book on ambivalent online play with Ryan Milner of the College of Charleston.
