Hi there, Quartz members!

Behind the wheel

We dispatched photographer Joshua Simpson to a New Jersey truck stop to interview truckers and take pictures of their rolling offices and homes. It’s a fascinating look at a job that many do alone, but some bring spouses and even entire families along for the ride. Not only that, we also have a series of illuminating graphics in our weekly chart book that go even further to describe the world of trucking, including the role trucking plays in other countries and how on-road fatalities, having dropped considerably a decade ago, have now stubbornly plateaued.

More trucking this week

We’ll have a lot more to talk about regarding trucking, including:

  • Our tool kit of resources to stay on top of trucking’s roiling changes
  • A convenient cheat sheet to give you the top talking points from this week’s guide
  • Our weekly 30-minute conference call on Friday at noon, EST. Stay tuned for details.

Let’s keep learning. Send ideas, questions, comments, and fuzzy dice to members@qz.com.

Hope you have a rewarding day,

Sam Grobart
