The Coffee Connexion Co. voluntarily recalled 913 cases of alfredo sauce after a supplier flagged a dry milk powder ingredient for potential salmonella contamination

The Coffee Connexion Co. Inc., a Lebanon, Tennessee-based food company, voluntarily recalled 913 cases of alfredo sauce distributed across 41 states after a supplier recalled a dry milk powder ingredient used in the product due to potential salmonella contamination. The FDA designated the recall a Class I event on June 4 — the agency's highest risk category — after the company initiated the recall on May 6.
Under FDA criteria, Class I is reserved for cases where exposure to or use of a product carries a reasonable probability of causing death or serious adverse health consequences.
Each case contains 12 sealed poly bags weighing 3 pounds 7 ounces apiece; the product is identified by UPC 0039954921963 and product number SSP980713. Recalled batches span four lot ranges with best-by dates running from Jan. 12, 2028 through April 20, 2028.
The sauce was distributed in Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, North Carolina, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington state, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. As of the FDA's enforcement report, no illnesses have been linked to the product, and the recall has not been closed.
Salmonella infection can produce gastrointestinal illness, with diarrhea, fever, and stomach cramps among the possible symptoms, typically appearing between 12 and 72 hours after exposure. Those at heightened risk of serious complications include young children, the elderly, and individuals whose immune systems are compromised.
