Pringles and Buffalo Wild Wings announced a collaboration on Thursday to produce three wing-sauce-inspired potato crisp flavors ahead of football season, the companies said.
The new lineup features Parmesan Garlic, Medium Buffalo, and Asian Zing — all modeled after existing Buffalo Wild Wings sauces. The crisps are hitting shelves at select retailers this month and will be available nationally in September, the companies said. Each can carries a suggested retail price of $2.69.
Pringles, which is owned by Mars, Incorporated, describes the partnership as its first flavor collaboration with a national restaurant brand in more than five years. Buffalo Wild Wings, founded in 1982, operates more than 1,400 restaurants across nine global markets and is part of the Inspire Brands family of restaurants.
"When two brands that are synonymous with game day and flavor come together, fans expect something big," Mauricio Jenkins, Salty Snacks Brand and Content Lead at Mars Snacking North America, said in a statement. "We've taken the unmistakable flavors people love from Buffalo Wild Wings and packed them into our iconic stackable crisps, creating a lineup that's made for every kickoff, watch party and tailgate."
Tristan Meline, Brand President of Buffalo Wild Wings, said in a statement that the crisps are intended to reach new consumers. "It's a fun way to introduce new consumers to the brand and invite them to experience our legendary flavors firsthand," he said.
The three flavors are designed to span a range of heat levels. The Parmesan Garlic variety is built around aged parmesan and roasted garlic, with tangy citrus, Italian herbs, and a touch of red spice rounding out the profile. The Medium Buffalo is centered on classic tangy wing flavor, with cayenne providing the heat and a buttery note at the end. The Asian Zing draws on rice vinegar for tanginess, chili peppers for heat, and soy sauce and ginger as finishing notes, the companies said.
The Takeout, which reviewed all three flavors, gave the collection a mixed assessment. The Parmesan Garlic variety received the most favorable marks, though the reviewer noted it lacked garlic flavor. The Medium Buffalo drew criticism for presenting its flavor notes in a disjointed sequence, while the Asian Zing was described as tasting better suited to noodles than to a crisp, according to The Takeout.
Neither Pringles nor Buffalo Wild Wings has disclosed how long the flavors will remain on shelves, the companies said. Consumers can use Pringles.com to locate participating retailers.
