Is the Internet broken yet?
The second teaser trailer for J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: Episode VII—The Force Awakens debuted today (April 16) during a panel for the movie at the Star Wars Celebration event in Anaheim, California. Abrams was on hand, alongside producer Kathleen Kennedy and a number of cast members (both new and old), to answer fan questions and introduce the new trailer.
In addition to being used as marketing tools, movie trailers—especially for films as big and as influential as Star Wars—are increasingly becoming pieces of art themselves. This one is no exception. Undoubtedly, it will be dissected frame for frame for clues about the movie, but for now let’s just admire its power. It’s quite engrossing, paying homage to characters of old while also hinting at where the story will now go.
The Force Awakens comes out December 18, 2015.
