Krispy Kreme is launching a Fourth of July doughnut collection featuring two new and two returning varieties to mark the 250th anniversary of American independence, the company said.
The two new offerings are the USA Doughnut and the Firework Doughnut. Red icing coats the outside of the USA Doughnut, an unglazed shell variety packed with Cookies n' Kreme filling and finished with star sprinkles and an edible USA sugar piece. For the Firework Doughnut, a standard Original Glazed ring gets a coating of blue vanilla icing, then gold glitter and a firecracker sugar piece on top.
The two returning doughnuts are the Freedom Ring and the Chocolate Iced with Patriotic Sprinkles. White icing serves as the base for the Freedom Ring, with one side carrying piped red stripes and the other decorated with blue sprinkles and white stars in a flag-inspired design. Rounding out the returning offerings, the Chocolate Iced with Patriotic Sprinkles tops a chocolate-dipped Original Glazed ring with a scatter of red, white, and blue sprinkles.
According to Sporked, dozen orders come packaged in a limited-edition holiday box, with the slogan "Bring Fourth The Fun" displayed on top.
Tied to the 250th anniversary, the chain is pricing an Original Glazed dozen at $2.50 — redeemable July 2 through July 5 when bundled with the purchase of any dozen or 16-count Minis. The promo code "USA," entered through the Krispy Kreme app or website, unlocks the discount, the company said. Showing up to any location dressed in red, white, and blue on July 4 will earn customers a complimentary Original Glazed doughnut.
The Fourth of July release is the latest in a string of limited-edition promotions from the chain. Krispy Kreme launched a Match Day Dozen tied to FIFA World Cup matches earlier this month, featuring two soccer-themed doughnuts and a $2 Original Glazed dozen deal. Before that, the company offered a free doughnut to every customer on National Doughnut Day on June 5, with no purchase required.
