Saudi Arabia has finally admitted that dissident journalist Jamal Khashoggi was killed at its consulate in Istanbul, after weeks of claiming he left the building unharmed. The kingdom now describes the “murder” as part of a rogue operation, although many of the suspects have ties to the crown prince and arrived by private jet (paywall). The kingdom now says the 59-year-old was killed by a chokehold.

A new record was set earlier this month with a flight that links Singapore with New York. Reviews suggest that traversing 10,400 miles (16,700 km) and 12 time zones in 19 hours is not all that bad. It does help that there are only business and premium-economy seats on the Singapore Airlines flight.

The Saudi dissident Jamal Khashoggi was living in Turkey in self-imposed exile when he walked into his country’s embassy in Istanbul on Oct. 2 and never walked out again. Turkish authorities think Khashoggi was murdered inside the embassy, which the Saudis dispute.
