The numbers: Impressive. Mattel reported third quarter earnings of $441.8 million, a 16% jump from the same period last year. Sales came in at $2.21 billion, beating analyst estimates of $2.17 billion. Mattel shares were up sharply in pre-market trading in response to the news.
Moet Hennessey Louis Vuitton LVMH reported sales for its third quarter yesterday (Oct. 15), and guess what—they weren’t great. Sales growth for the company’s floundering fashion and leather (aka handbags) division quarter slowed to 4% for the first nine months of 2013 over the same period in 2012.
Numbers: So so. Coca-Cola Co. reported a 6% spike in third-quarter earnings from a year prior, on a slight 2% uptick in global volume. Global revenue, however, dropped 2.5% from the same period last year to $12.03 billion. Shares are down slightly in early trading.
