As athleisure clothing continues its insidious takeover of the global wardrobe, people are struggling with the etiquette around how and whether to wear workout gear when we’re not working out.

On Saturday (Oct. 24) US pop star Katy Perry debuted a Hillary 2016-themed turban, manicure, and sparkly brooch for a performance in Iowa, putting campaign buttons everywhere to shame. She also wore an American flag as a cape.

Brazilian artist Beatriz Milhazes stood beside one of her lush, vibrant paintings at the James Cohan Gallery in Manhattan, where her new exhibition, Marola, opened on October 22, and described the unique torment of creating it.

The lingerie site Yandy will rake in $15 million this October, Forbes predicts, thanks to its selection of “sexy” Halloween costumes, which include short-skirted and hot-panted renditions of 2015 memes—most notoriously, the heroic New York City rat who dragged a slice of pizza (video) down the subway steps.

Sometime during the early 2000s, big, gold, “door-knocker” hoop earrings started to appeal to me, after I’d admired them on girls at school. It didn’t faze me that most of the girls who wore these earrings at my high school in St. Louis were black, unlike me. And while it certainly may have occurred to me that I—a semi-preppy dresser—couldn’t pull them off, it never occurred to me that I shouldn’t.

From outside, the Butcherei Lindinger looked like any of the other kink shops in Schöneberg, Berlin’s historic gay district.

A tampon dressed as a one-eyed pirate just might be an excellent teacher.

Fashion and tech were bedfellows long before the days of Hermès Apple watch bands and cross-industry talent poaching. The garment industry fueled the Industrial Revolution, after all.

Karl Lagerfeld created the airport of our dreams this morning (Oct. 6), for Chanel’s Spring 2016 show in Paris, complete with generous carry-ons, smiling skycaps, and stylish fellow travelers. In an airy terminal—actually the soaring, sky-lit Grand Palais—a faux departures board displayed destinations such as Shanghai, Dubai, Salzburg, and New York—all cities where Chanel hosts events for jet-set customers.

Here at Quartz, we—like Vladimir Putin and much of the world—are obsessed with our activewear. And with annual sales of sports and sports-inspired “athleisure” clothing nearing $300 billion worldwide, many of us are clearly wearing our leggings far beyond the gym.

The latest concept from the athleisure behemoth Lululemon reads as parody, but will probably make the company millions.

The modern age offers myriad guides to the search for love. This year, Alessandro Michele, the creative director breathing new life into Gucci, has unearthed an ancient way to find it: a map.

Anna Wintour, the Vogue editor-in-chief and Condé Nast artistic director, should be known for many qualities: fierce intelligence, indomitable leadership, and political power, among them. But perhaps because The Devil Wears Prada was such a memorable movie—or perhaps because she is a woman—Wintour is best known as, well, a bitch.

The Emmy Awards will air tonight (Sept. 20) at 8pm EST honoring shows that, increasingly, are being watched by people who don’t pay for cable. But even for us cord-cutters, there’s still fun to be had with the highly awkward, semi-scripted live awards show. Andy Samberg will host, and it should be an entertaining evening, with Amy Poehler, Tina Fey, John Oliver, Ricky Gervais, Mindy Kaling, Tracee Ellis Ross, Keegan-Michael Key, and Jordan Peel among the presenters. (Also, Lady Gaga!)

On the first official day of New York Fashion Week (Sept. 10), where designers present the clothes they’ll sell to us next spring, the show I was attending in a Soho loft had yet to begin when the blogger, author, and social media star Leandra Medine, better known as the Man Repeller, caught my eye.

Although it’s my job to unravel fashion’s many mysteries, one of the industry’s more glamorous secrets has proven largely inscrutable to me. When designers unveil their couture collections, where an outlandish, one-of-a-kind, handmade dress can cost anywhere from tens of thousands to several million dollars, I always wonder: Who actually buys this stuff? And where do they wear it?

New York Fashion Week was once all about the clothes on the runway, but increasingly, it’s the models that everyone is looking at. As a conversation about diversity and beauty standards plays out on the catwalk, a show’s cast can invite more commentary than the clothes they are wearing.

Mark Zuckerberg is on the cover of the October issue of Vanity Fair, in a portrait taken by legendary photographer Annie Leibovitz. Usually such a sitting would require (at least) a rack of clothing and a team of assistants led by the magazine’s fashion and style director, Jessica Diehl.

A pint-sized, seven year-old girl from Brazil has won the respect of internet users worldwide, with this video of her landing a heelflip on the third try while wearing a fairy dress and matching wings:

I can’t remember the first time I used Skin Trip body lotion, but I do remember when I recognized it was more than just a moisturizer. It was summer, bottled. It was an easy kind of sexy. It was simply good, and utterly un-fancy.

The word ”effortless” is often used to describe fashion’s ideal look: Models of the moment should appear polished, blemish-free, and achingly cool, but not as if it took too much work.

Natalie Massenet, the founder of the luxury e-commerce site Net-a-Porter, has resigned (pdf), taking more than $150 million with her after selling her shares, according to Bloomberg.
